Ethicon Johnson & Johnson Lawyers Stop Commercializing Mesh

Breaking News – Vaginal Mesh – Ethicon’s (Johnson & Johnson) Lawyers Announce They Will Stop “Commercializing” Vaginal Mesh

The lawyers for Defendant transvaginal mesh manufacturer, Johnson & Johnson (subsidiary Ethicon), have contacted the Multi District Litigation (MDL – another term for class action group) court and stated that J&J  is advising the Food & Drug Administration in its own words that they will “stop commercializing” specific J&J vaginal mesh devices (surgical transvaginal mesh recalled products,)  specifically Gynecare Prosima, Gynecare TVT Secur, Gynecare Prolift as well as Gynecare Prolift+M.

    Weaver & Associates Investigating Injuries

The personal injury attorneys of Weaver & Associates have become aware that Johnson & Johnson’s attorneys have requested for the FDA to give them 120 days to stop their commercialization.  During this time period, Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson) will be permitted time to notify consumers and customers as well as to provide hospitals, physicians and surgeons enough time to choose alternative vaginal surgical treatment options to provide to their patients.  Ethicon has also announced it will discontinue all marketing materials for these transvaginal surgical mesh products.

It is important to note that Ethicon has updated the labeling for the products: Gynecare Gynemesh, as well as its specific “Indication for Use,” in order to restrict use of the products specifically for abdominal sacrocolpopexy surgeries for POP (pelvic organ prolapse) treatment.  Ethicon also requested permission to continue selling Gynecare Gynemesh under current specific “Instructions for Use” until a response from the FDA comes back to their proposed modification in marketing plan.
